Tullow Oil Shares Interest to Return to Angola

Tullow Oil has confirmed its interest in returning to Angola’s energy sector.

Speaking on part two of the Restructuring and Remodeling of Upstream Angola panel on the second day of the Angola Oil & Gas conference hosted by Africa Oil & Power in Luanda; Tullow Oil’s VP of Exploration, Oil Tim O’Hanlon, shared the company’s intention to return to Angola’s oil and gas sector.

“We are not in Angola today, but we cannot afford to not be in Angola,” he said during the panel, moderated by Rui Amendoeira, Partner at RLA Advogados.

On the same panel, Pedro Ribeiro, Deputy General Manager of Total Angola, expressed the oil major’s continued commitment to the country, saying that although it has a significant existing presence in Angola, it still believes the country holds “enormous potential” to increase and maintain its oil production.

The panel was joined by Somoil CEO, Nelson Pacavira, Per Johan Bugge, Commercial Director at Equinor; Chief Tunde Joseph Afolabi, CEO Amni International and Pedro Ribeiro, Deputy General Manager of Total Angola.

The Angola Oil & Gas Conference and Exhibition continues until Thursday, 6 June.
