For the second year, Africa Oil & Power returned to London to host the AOP Investor Forum 2019. The event focused on the exploration and licensing rounds taking place across Africa.
Our theme was Investment in African Energy: Emerging Plays and Prospects.

Once again the forum united the continent’s top executives and leading government officials with investors from around the world.
The one-day program highlighted the most pressing issues facing the industry and brought together policymakers, financiers and the private sector to tackle the issues and opportunities in Africa’s energy sector.

Africa Energy Series – Equatorial Guinea launch
AOP Investor Forum 2019 provided exclusive access to the Africa Energy Series – Equatorial Guinea book endorsed by the auspices of the Ministry of Mines and Hydrocarbons.
It is the most comprehensive report published on Equatorial Guinea’s energy leaders, resources, main actors and future potential.

Working in the oil and gas industry since 1997, his past positions include Minister Delegate, Vice Minister, Secretary of State for Mines and Hydrocarbons, Government Rep. in the Equity of the State in PSCs, and Presidential Adviser on Hydrocarbons. He has served as a member of the board of three public energy companies: SONAGAS, SEGESA and GEPetrol.

Prior to founding OBSIDIAN, Segun was Executive Director, Africa at UBS AG London. He has over 20 years’ experience in the financial services industry and began his career in management consulting with MTS Consulting in 1998 where he advised small and medium sized companies on process enhancement, business structuring and accessing finance.
He subsequently joined the Asset and Resource Management Company Ltd (ARM) - the largest asset manager in West Africa - in 2003 and went on to head the West Africa offshore private client divisions of Standard Bank in 2006 and Renaissance Capital (RenCap) in 2008 before setting up Premier Wealth Management in 2009. Barclays Wealth acquired Premier in 2010 and he joined the International Private Bank in London as Vice President, West Africa.
He is a Managing Director at Impaxis Group in charge of Advisory and Capital Markets transactions.
Ababacar is CEO of Impaxis Securities, the Capital Markets arm of IMPAXIS Group.
Before joining Impaxis Group, he was a Senior Associate in the HSBC M&A Department in Paris, France.
Ababacar worked also within the Audit department of DELOITTE in Paris.
He is graduated from the Magistère BFA (Paris DAUPHINE University) with a specialization in “Investment Banking & Corporate Finance” from the Olin Business School MBA Program (Washington University in St-Louis – USA).
He also holds a Master in Economics and International Finance (DEA 106) from the Paris DAUPHINE University.
Prior to joining the LSE, Tom was at Citigroup for over 15 years. Tom was a Managing Director in the Equity Capital Markets division, originating, structuring and executing equity and equity-linked transactions across Europe. He has been involved in a large number of IPOs and follow-on capital raising over the years, including many involving a London listing. Prior to Citi, Tom worked in Kleinwort Benson's Equity Capital Markets team from 1994 to 1997.
Tom graduated from Oxford University with a BA (Hons) degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics.
He has also served as a Director of Pacific Drilling SA (until 2018), where he chaired the Remuneration Committee and was a member of the company’s restructuring committee; and as Deputy Chairman of LSE-listed Gulf Keystone Petroleum Ltd (until 2014); and as a Director of TASE-listed Oil Refineries Ltd (through 2014).
Following several years as a management consultant in the early 1980s, he was co-head of the global oil products trading business of Marc Rich + Co AG (now Glencore AG) and then in the 1990s he acquired, developed and sold the 275,000 b/d Beta oil refinery at Wilhelmshaven in Germany.
Between 1998 and 2001 he was CEO of PA Consulting Group, and since that time he has been an investor and Director in various public and private companies, mainly in the Energy sector.Jeremy Asher
During his career in financial markets, he has worked across various asset classes at institutions such as Kepler Capital Markets and Main First Bank , providing him with a strong network within the industry. Karl has been able to develop and grow businesses and investors relationships in tandem over the years.

The team’s main role is to support the UK supply chain in identifying business opportunities in the global oil and gas market.
Neil is the product owner of the EIC’s market intelligence tools, EICDataStream and EICAssetMap, and leads a team developing further new products with the aim of increasing the visibility of the UK supply chain to major players in the global energy markets. Prior to joining the EIC Neil spent nine years at IHS.
